In relation to my previous blog regarding animals and their auspicious appearances in our lives, I wanted to relate a camping trip I had with my family recently. We camped by a lake and felt very close to nature. The first morning when I awoke, I got up and headed for a walk. When I looked over, I saw a beautiful red fox with a big bushy tail. This was the first morning and my first animal sighting of the trip.
As we were driving later that day, we saw a Big Horned Sheep grazing on the side of the road. It is always spectacular to me every time I see a big horned sheep because it feels like a gift since they live away from humanity.
On the last morning of our camping trip, we walked to the lake where we camped and along flew a Bald Eagle. He landed on the top of a tree and we got to watch him for about 40 minutes. We were so silent you could hear a pin drop as we watched him on his perch. It was early morning and I was stunned; we all were. Who gets to spend 40 minutes with an eagle? That is an event I will remember for the rest of my life and consider a gift from Mother Earth and God. This entire trip has provided me with an opportunity to commune with flora and fauna in a way that surpasses my urban existence. With the right combination of nature and inner city life it helps me to balance my yin and yang.
