More Time in Nature
I took a trip with my family to West Yellowstone, Montana recently. It updated my states travelled to to 45. It was a refreshing time to visit Yellowstone Park after a hot and dry Summer. In any direction I looked I saw water, lakes, rivers and streams. Yellowstone Lake is the biggest lake in the park at 136 SQ miles. It is magnificent to see.
With all the water there are approximately 50m trees in the 2.2 million acre park. This ensures that the park animals, ie. Bison , elk, deer, beavers, bears, Chipmunks, osprey, etc. can live. We were fortunate enough to see two osprey nests with parents feeding babies. The nests are intricate and amazing to see. We saw some free flying gliding birds we think we're eagles.
We observed bison feasting on the plains, elk in the river, beaver dams and antelope grazing in the north of the park. We did not see moose or grizzly or brown bears or bighorn sheep. They come out at dawn and dusk and we were there at midday, mostly.
We stayed in a cabin in West Yellowstone Montana and entered the park from the West entrance. We covered a good portion of the park, lacking the northeast portion. It was a refreshing vacation and time in this hottest summer on mother Earth. I thank God for it and the fact that these animals still have a place to live and roam in this country.
